Ways teams use the wheel

  • Standup order. Turn on "Remove each name once it's picked" and spin until everyone has gone. "Copy the order" gives you the list to paste into chat.
  • Who runs the retro. One spin, and the facilitator role moves around the team fairly.
  • Who takes the next ticket. Handy for the jobs nobody volunteers for.
  • Demo order. Spin once per person so nobody has to go first by default.

Questions people ask

Is the pick really random?

Yes. The winner is chosen with your browser's built-in cryptographic random number generator before the wheel starts turning, so every name has the same chance. The spin just shows the result.

Can I use the team from the velocity planner?

Yes. "Use my sprint team" fills the wheel with the names you've added in the velocity planner on this device.

Are the names saved anywhere?

Only in your browser and in the share link. The names are kept after the # in the link, which browsers don't send to our server. See the privacy policy for details.

How many names can I add?

Up to 100. Names get shorter on the wheel as you add more, but the popup always shows the full name.
